NOTE: This is a FAN-COMPILED script of the movie, King Arthur. There are and will be mistakes and may not exactly be parallel with the actual script that was used in the movie. However, that doesn’t mean that this script did not take effort to make.

This is the result of many, many, many hours of hard work. If you are going to use this script, credit to “FALLEN KNIGHTS” (http://www.fallen-knights.com) would be greatly appreciated. It’d also be nice if you linked to the website, so other people can use this script as well.

If you think you can fix one of the many errors or you spot an error, please contact me (http://www.fallen-knights.com) and I will fix it as soon as possible.

Please note that we will have no choice but to remove this script from our servers if it intrudes legally as determined by Touchstone Pictures.

A million thanks to Pinkie who made and typed up the alternate ending so that everyone could see it.  Everyone please give her word of thanks and appreciation!

ALTERNATE ENDING: THIS CUTS STRAIGHT TO WHEN BORS IS CARRYING TRISTAN OVER TO WHERE ARTHUR IS AT LANCELOT'S DEAD BODY.

ARTHUR
(tearfully) My brave knights, I have failed you.
I neither took you off this island, nor shared your fate.

[A VOICE IS HEARD, RECOGNIZED AS MERLIN. MERLIN WALKS AROUND GUINEVERE'S BACK AND LOOKS DOWN AT LANCELOT. ARTHUR LOOKS UP TO MEET HIS EYES. BORS LOOKS AT HIM IN SHOCK.

MERLIN:
(to Arthur)
No fate is shared.
(to other knights, and more confident)
No fate is shared.

[MERLIN WALKS AWAY, GAWAIN, GALAHAD, BORS, GUINEVERE LOOKING BLOODY. ARTHUR'S EYES HALF SHUT AND HE LOOKS INTO NOTHINGNESS, TEARS ROLLING DOWN HIS FACE.]

[CUT TO GRAVEYARD, BURIAL MOUNDS EVERYWHERE, ALL BUT ONE MARKED WITH A SWORD]
[GALAHAD HANDS ARTHUR THE TORCH, AND ARTHUR PLACES IT TO LIGHT LANCELOT’S BODY]
[LANCELOT BURNS]
[GUINEVERE, WHO HAS HER HANDS AROUND LUCAN, WATCHES AS ARTHUR BURNS LANCELOT'S BODY. SHE WALKS TOWARDS HIM AND TAKES HIS HAND. LUCAN STANDS FORLORN WATCHING THIS HAPPENING, THE BIG BLACK RING THAT DAGONET WORE, HANGING ON A LEATHER CORD AROUND HIS NECK.
BORS WALKS BEHIND LUCAN AND PATS HIS HEAD, THEN WALKS TO STAND BESIDE GALAHAD ON THE OTHER SIDE OF ARTHUR. HE LOOKS AT THE BURNING BODY AND THEN TO ARTHUR]

BORS:
They chose their own fate.
(turning to Galahad, he spoke more assuredly)
As did we all.
(quietly he spoke, facing Arthur)
As did we all.

[BORS WALKS OFF. GAWAIN WALKS TO GALAHAD. LOOKS AT HIM, THEN AT BURNING LANCELOT, THEN AT ARTHUR. LOOKING BACK AT GALAHAD, THE TWO KNIGHTS THEN WALK OFF. LUCAN TURNS FROM THE BURNING BODY AND HIS EYES FALL ON DAGONET'S GRAVE. SLOWLY HE WALKS TO IT AND PUTS HIS TINY HANDS AROUND THE POMMEL OF THE SWORD. WITH GRUNTS AND SOBS HE TRIES TO PULL THE SWORD LOOSE BUT IT DOESNT BUDGE. ARTHUR WATCHES THE KID STRUGGLE AND STANDS BEHIND LUCAN. HE PUTS A HAND ON LUCAN'S SHOULD WHICH STOPS THE KID BURSTING A BLOOD VESSEL TRYING TO GET THE SWORD OUT OF THE GROUND. ARTHUR LOOKS AT THE CHILD FONDLY, A HINT OF A SMILE ON HIS LIPS]

ARTHUR:
One day you'll be strong enough. And you'll come back for it. (Arthur's eyes drift to the sword briefly and back to LUCAN who looks down sadly. )

[ARTHUR STROKES THE KIDS LONG CURLY HAIR AND GUINEVERE WALKS UP BEHIND HIM, PUTTING A HAND ON ARTHUR'S SHOULDER, THE TWO LOCK EYES. ARTHUR THEN LOOKS UP TO THE SKY. A HAWK IS HEARD SCREECHING AND THEN THE ENDING FADES OUT WITH THE IMAGE OF CLOUDS TINGED ORANGE FROM THE SETTING SUN.]
